Bercut-ET
Bercut-ET is the Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet tester, intended for analysis and diagnostic tests of Ethernet services performing.
Key features
- Throughput, latency, frame loss, back-to-back measurements as per RFC 2544.
- Traffic generation and analysis up to 4 layer.
- Getting and displaying statistics about traffic received and transmitted at physical, data link and network layers.
- Copper cable diagnostics.
- Ethernet loopback at physical, data link, network and transport layers of the OSI model.
- Loopback control via OAM protocol.
- BERT (Bit Error Rate Test).
- Packet jitter measurements.
- IP testing: ping, traceroute, DNS lookup, TCP client, ARP monitor.
RFC 2544 methodology
The RFC 2544 methodology defines a specific set of tests to measure and report the performance characteristics of network devices.

Before testing set up parameters of packets: source and destination MAC addresses, source and destination IP-addresses, VLAN (VLAN ID, priority), Precedence, ToS (Type of Service), number of source and destination UDP-port.
All test results are displayed as a table:

and in a graphic form:

BERT
This test allows to measure bit error rate - the ratio of error bits to the total number of bits transmitted. Test can be performed at physical, data link and network layers of the OSI model. All test patterns used for measurements are in accordance with the ITU-T O.150 standard.
